Medistri’s facility in Székesfehérvár, Hungary operates under an ISO 14001-certified Environmental Management System, extending our structured approach to environmental management across our sterilization infrastructure.
As Medistri continues developing its operations in Hungary, environmental responsibility remains an integral part of how our infrastructure is managed and expanded. Together with our ISO 14001-certified operations in Switzerland, the certification supports a consistent environmental management approach across both Medistri locations.
What Is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is an internationally recognized standard that establishes requirements for an Environmental Management System. The framework helps organizations systematically identify and manage the environmental impacts associated with their activities while establishing processes for continuous improvement. An ISO 14001 Environmental Management System supports organizations in:
- Identifying significant environmental aspects and impacts
- Establishing an environmental policy and objectives
- Addressing applicable regulatory requirements
- Implementing processes to support environmental commitments
- Taking actions to continuously improve environmental performance
Environmental Management Across Medistri
Applying this framework to our Hungarian operations supports a structured approach to managing the environmental aspects associated with our activities. This includes the identification and monitoring of environmental impacts, pollution reduction initiatives, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement of environmental performance.
The certification complements Medistri’s broader environmental strategy and extends the principles already implemented at our headquarters in Domdidier, Switzerland, to our operations in Hungary.
As our infrastructure and sterilization capacity continue to evolve, maintaining a structured approach to environmental responsibility remains an important part of our long-term development.
Supporting More Sustainable Healthcare Supply Chains
Environmental performance extends beyond an individual facility. For healthcare manufacturers, working with partners operating under established environmental management systems can contribute to broader sustainability objectives across their supply chains.
By maintaining ISO 14001-certified environmental management systems across our infrastructure in Switzerland and Hungary, Medistri continues integrating environmental considerations into the way our services and operations are developed.
CO₂ Measurement and Customer Reporting
As part of its environmental management approach, Medistri measures and monitors the carbon footprint associated with its sterilization activities. This includes tracking average CO₂ emissions per pallet, providing measurable data to support continuous improvement and greater transparency across our operations.
This information can also be made available to customers through a dedicated certificate, providing visibility into the CO₂ emissions associated with their sterilization activities at Medistri. This can support customers with their own environmental monitoring, sustainability reporting, and supply chain objectives.
Medistri periodically updates its carbon footprint evaluation in accordance with ISO 14064 and the principles of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG), reinforcing a structured and transparent approach to emissions measurement.
Medistri is committed to continuously improving its environmental performance while supporting customers and partners in developing more responsible and sustainable healthcare supply chains.
